Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
by J. K. Rowling

Completed April 2001

Harry Potter is back, and in fine form. I thoroughly enjoyed Goblet of Fire. I don't have strong feelings on whether it is better or worse than the others in the series. On the plus side, it is similarly inventive and fanciful. On the minus side, I think it lacks some of the thematic urgency of the first three books, which really made significant points about love and friendships and the like...I wasn't so clear on Rowling's lesson in this one. I was disappointed that this one -- even after 700+ pages -- came to an end, though, so Rowling will undoubtedly have a huge audience for the next installment, too.
